Leopard Catamarans are built in Cape Town, South Africa, by Robertson and Caine, and they are a familiar sight in Caribbean charter fleets. Most crewed Leopards are the Leopard 50 and the larger Leopard 58.
A crewed Leopard 50 costs about $17,500 to $27,500 a week in the BVI, and a Leopard 58 about $24,500 to $33,000. In the Bahamas a typical Leopard is about $30,500.
We charter Leopards in the BVI and the Bahamas, and our guide for each is linked below.
What is Leopard known for?
- The forward cockpit: a door from the saloon opens onto a sheltered lounge at the bow.
- Sailing and power: the Leopard 50 and 58 are sailing catamarans, and the Leopard 51 and 53 are power catamarans.
- Built for charter: simple, robust layouts that suit two or three crew and six to ten guests.
- Value: one of the lower weekly rates for a crewed catamaran in the Caribbean.

High-season weekly rates of the 73 Leopard catamarans built 2000 or later in our charter system, October 2026. Almost all of them are priced in dollars.
The APA for running costs, usually 20 to 30% on a catamaran, plus local charter tax and the crew gratuity, come on top.
In the Bahamas we recommend budgeting from about $60,000 for a fully crewed catamaran week, so a Leopard there is the value option.
How does Leopard compare with Lagoon and Bali?
The catamarans we charter most in the BVI, side by side:
- Leopard: a Leopard 50 runs $17,500 to $27,500 a high-season week in the BVI.
- Bali: a Bali 5.4 is about $32,000 in the BVI. See our Bali catamaran charter page.
- Lagoon: a 50 to 59 foot Lagoon runs $17,900 to $43,000 in the BVI. See our Lagoon catamaran charter page.
All three are proven charter catamarans, so the crew matters more than the badge. For more space and finish, see our Fountaine Pajot and Sunreef pages.
