Yes, and it follows the water, not your nationality. It ranges from nothing in the British Virgin Islands to 22 percent in Italy. Greece and Croatia charge 13 percent, France and Monaco 20, Spain 21. The Bahamas charge a flat 14 percent charter tax. Turkey charges 20 percent on Turkish-flagged yachts and nothing on foreign-flagged ones.
It is charged on the charter fee, not on the APA. A route that crosses borders is taxed by days in each country, which your broker calculates before you sign. Our VAT guide lists every country we book.
