10 Film and TV Yachts You Can Charter in Real Life

The yacht in the film almost never has the name you would have to book. The ship Keira Knightley boards in The Woman in Cabin 10 is called Aurora Borealis on screen and SAVANNAH in real life. Bond’s Manticore is NORTHERN CROSS. The Mediterranean Queen from Murder Mystery is SARASTAR.

All ten of the yachts below are real, and all ten can be chartered. We hold the records on every one of them. The weekly rates run from €94,500 to €1.15 million, so this is not only a list of boats you cannot have.

1. SOLANDGE

Seen in: Succession, series 2
A week from: €1,150,000

The Lürssen that the Roy family spends the second-series finale aboard, anchored off Croatia while the business falls apart below deck. She is 279 feet, built in 2013, and takes 12 guests in 8 cabins.

She still works the Mediterranean, including Greece, Croatia and Turkey, which is roughly where the cameras found her.

2. SAVANNAH

Seen in: The Woman in Cabin 10, as “Aurora Borealis”
A week from: €1,000,000

The 273-foot Feadship that carries the whole film. Delivered in 2015, 12 guests in 6 cabins, and known in the industry for her hybrid propulsion, which makes her notably quiet for a ship her size.

She cruises the Mediterranean, mostly France, Italy and Monaco.

3. CHRISTINA O

Seen in: Triangle of Sadness
A week from: around €700,000

The one most people recognise before they are told. Aristotle Onassis’s own yacht, 325 feet, and the setting for the captain’s dinner that made Triangle of Sadness famous.

She is not a set. The mosaic pool on the aft deck, the bar with the whale-tooth footrests and the library with the Churchill bust are all original, and we have walked all of them. She takes 34 guests at one table and sleeps 17 cabins’ worth of them.

4. PLANET NINE

Seen in: Tenet
A week from: €650,000

Christopher Nolan needed a ship that looked like it could go anywhere and launch a helicopter off the back, and PLANET NINE is exactly that: a 242-foot ice-classed Admiral explorer from 2018, with a helicopter hangar and lifts running through five decks.

She takes 12 guests in 8 cabins and currently works Central America, Belize to Panama, which is a long way from most charter fleets.

5. SARASTAR

Seen in: Murder Mystery, as “Mediterranean Queen”
A week from: €392,000

Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston board her off Monaco. She is a 197-foot Mondomarine from 2017, 12 guests in 6 cabins, and she is the most widely available boat on this list: her season areas run from the Adriatic and the Aegean right across to the Bahamas and the Grenadines.

6. TURQUOISE

Seen in: Riviera
A week from: €350,000

The yacht at the centre of Sky Atlantic’s Riviera, and the one the plot keeps returning to. A 181-foot 2011 build from the Turkish yard that shares her name, 12 guests in 6 cabins.

She has since moved west and now charters in the Caribbean rather than the Riviera she is named after.

7. AQUARIUS

Seen in: Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery
A week from: €220,000

The boat that carries the cast out to the island at the start of Glass Onion, filmed in Greece. A 150-foot Mengi Yay from 2016 taking 10 guests in 5 cabins.

She is also the one on this list most people could actually book. She charters in Greece and Turkey, which means the Cyclades, the Dodecanese, Corfu and the Turkish coast, and at €220,000 she is a fifth of what the Succession yacht costs.

8. SPACECAT

Seen in: The White Lotus, series 3
A week from: $160,000

The futuristic catamaran the Ratliff brothers take out in Thailand. She is a 36-metre SilverYachts build from 2022, 8 guests, 9 crew including a London-trained chef, and she still works Phuket and the Gulf of Thailand where the series was shot.

We have written about her separately: the White Lotus yacht, and how to charter her in Thailand.

9. NORTHERN CROSS

Seen in: GoldenEye, as “Manticore”
A week from: €94,500

Xenia Onatopp lures a Canadian admiral aboard the Manticore in Monaco, and the Manticore is this boat: a 141-foot Marineteknik built in Sweden in 1991, 10 guests in 5 cabins.

At €94,500 she is the cheapest way onto a Bond yacht by a wide margin, and she is still working, with seasons listed in Ibiza and the Balearics.

10. REGINA

Seen in: Skyfall, as “Chimera”
A week from: on request

The sailing yacht Bond boards in Macau is a 183-foot 2011 ketch, filmed in Turkey. She takes 12 guests in 6 cabins under a rig that makes her one of the most photographed yachts in the eastern Mediterranean.

Her rate is not published, so it comes on request.

What these rates are, and what they are not

Every figure above is the published guide rate for a week, and it is a starting point rather than a quote. Two things move it. The season: a July week on any of these boats costs more than the figure here, which is usually the low-season line. And the expenses: most are chartered plus expenses, so food, drink, fuel and berths come out of an APA on top, typically around 30 percent of the fee, with local VAT added.

Tell us the boat and the week and we will come back with the real number from her central agent, including what the APA is likely to run.

People also ask

What is the yacht in The Woman in Cabin 10?

SAVANNAH, a 273-foot Feadship delivered in 2015. On screen she is called Aurora Borealis. She takes 12 guests in 6 cabins and charters in the Mediterranean from about €1 million a week.

What is the yacht in Triangle of Sadness?

CHRISTINA O, the 325-foot yacht Aristotle Onassis converted from a Canadian frigate in the 1950s. She is still chartering, takes 34 guests, and a week starts around €700,000.

What is the yacht in Glass Onion?

AQUARIUS, a 150-foot Mengi Yay from 2016, filmed in Greece. She charters in Greece and Turkey from about €220,000 a week for 10 guests, which makes her the most accessible of the famous ones.

Can you really charter the yachts from films?

Yes, for the ones that are charter yachts to begin with. Every yacht on this page is a working charter boat with a central agent and a published or quotable rate. Some famous screen yachts are privately owned and never available, which is why they are not on this list.

Which film yacht is the cheapest to charter?
