It was built by Lagoon in 2016. A refit was done in 2023. The yacht layout features 4 cabins and accommodates 8 guests. The cabin arrangement is following: 4 queen cabins.

Born in Japan, growing up in England with American parents, Mark has always been a voyager. Having started sailing at a young age, he completed his RYA day skipper course at the ripe age of 13 years old on a 32’ sloop sailing the French and English coasts. His passion for all things nautical led him to a degree in Marine Biology and Coastal Ecology at the University of Plymouth where he completed his Yacht Master course and worked locally as a dive guide and RIB pilot. Soon wishing to explore further afield, Mark embarked on a career as a professional dive guide and instructor working all over the world and clocking up thousands of dives culminating in a 4.5hr dive to 260’ on a rebreather to explore a war wreck in Vanuatu. This was while working on his first luxury motor yacht. He then stayed in this sector on and off for the next 17 years earning MCA Master 3000 and Y4 engineer licenses. One notable break from luxury yachts was his time spent with the race vessel ‘Earthrace’. The team circumnavigated the globe in 60 days in a 78’ motor yacht with 4 crew and still hold the World Record to this day! Mark loves exploring the Virgin Islands and all the fun, culture and nature it has to offer.
Born and raised in South Africa, Michael O'Brien has always had a deep connection with the ocean. This lifelong passion led him to earn his PADI Divemaster certification in Sodwana Bay, Durban, in 2020 – a testament to his exceptional diving skills.
In the same year, Michael discovered his love for culinary arts. Pursuing this newfound passion, he underwent formal culinary training for 4 years in Stellenbosch. His talent and dedication quickly propelled him into the world of fine dining, where he honed his skills in prestigious Cape Town establishments, including The Manor House and Delaire Graff Wine Estate.
Seeking to combine his two greatest loves – the ocean and food – Michael set his sights on a career at sea. In early 2023, he secured his first maritime position as 3rd chef on a vessel in Scotland. His culinary expertise and adaptability saw him swiftly rise through the ranks, eventually becoming the sole chef aboard an 80-foot yacht cruising the Bahamas.
Now, Michael has embarked on a new adventure as part of the crew aboard Ripple. He brings his unique blend of ocean expertise and culinary mastery to our catamaran, enhancing our guests' experiences with his skills both as a chef and an experienced diver. We're thrilled to welcome him as a valuable member of the Ripple family, where his passion for the sea and gourmet cuisine contributes immensely to creating unforgettable charter journeys.
Jeanique is a young and ambitious soul from a small, rural town in Solwezi, Zambia. She started yachting at the age of 20 with the aim to be independent, travel to her hearts content and to experience diverse cultures. With two summer seasons under her belt she has worked on charter yachts in Greece, the Mediterranean and the east coast of the USA. She was a competitive swimmer for twelve years and just loves the water and has now had the opportunity to scuba dive and see the underwater world we share with our aquatic friends.Being
able to work both on deck and inside vessel's, she's been able to see the best of both worlds on a yacht or sailing vessel. She has been aloud the opportunity to share her friendly, caregiving nature everywhere she goes, allowing the people whom connect and meet her feel the positive and kind hearted nature which is her personality and character.

My wife Judy, Three sons and their wives and myself had a fantastic vacation on our
catamaran cruise aboard Ripple 11-18 January 2025. This was our third catamaran
chartered cruise with our broker over the past 15 years and was by far the
best trip of all!!
Our Ripple crew of three was attentive, knowledgeable and friendly. Captain Mark
has impressive sailing and diving experience and our party of eight quickly trusted
his leadership. He managed his assistant crew members in exemplary manner with
respect and kindness. He demonstrated total commitment to the safety and comfort
of his guests aboard Ripple. For example, without any prompting or requests from
our party, he quietly traveled by dinghy to shore on two mornings to restock beer
for the ship’s bar without additional charge or negative judgment. The scuba diving
opportunity for two of us who are certified divers was expected but the Discover
Diving course under Mark’s tutelage as a PADI Divemaster for our middle son Joe
was unexpected and gave him a wonderful introduction to scuba during three dives
on this trip. He was thrilled to have this opportunity and experience.
First mate and Chef Michael did a phenomenal job in the galley with sumptuous and
satisfying meals for us and he navigated the vegetarian requirements of two of our
daughter in laws without a glitch. He provisioned the charter perfectly according to
our menu preferences and his own extensive experience. Unplanned highlight
culinary experiences include fresh sashimi from fresh caught fish
on an outrigger trawling line and lure as well as fresh baked Sourdough bread
accompanying several meals! Jeanique is a friendly and patient Second Mate and
First Rate Bartender and was extremely attentive to us, never leaving an empty
glass during evening happy hours.
Owner operator Mark Russell maintained an impeccably clean and comfortable yacht
with excellent ventilation with well functioning air conditioning on warm nights and
open hatches and sea breezes in the mornings. Our sailing itinerary was perfect as
we reached from St Thomas and St John USVI, through BVI Norman, Cooper and
Virgin Gorda Islands and out to and back from Anegada then to Jost Van Dyke and
final night on the water off St John. Judy and I agree with our trip highlights being
touring the north shore beaches of Anegada on the Mini Mokes followed by a tasty
lobster dinner and the awesome hike and swim in the Bubbly Pool at Jost.
This family vacation exceeded our expectations and made wonderful lifelong
memories. Even after arriving home the crew of Ripple reached out to us sending
additional photos and trip highlight video. Our broker provided excellent
service and prompt response to any questions we had.

Our Captain, Mark, was knowledgeable, professional, safety-conscious — but most of all, FUN! We left the itinerary up to him and he delivered the best scuba and snorkeling spots at the right times for great visibility considering how the ocean floor can get churned up with weather. He made sure that everyone was having fun, prepared specialty cocktails (e.g., "Slippery Ripple” and “A Ripple In Time,” etc.), but was always cognizant of the line between stimulating activities and restful relaxation - both of which were needed by our group - and he always read the situations/moods perfectly.
Part of being completely relaxed and totally spoiled is not having to do so much as to even DECIDE what to have for dinner. Having received all of our preferences and aversions, Chef Nicole surprised us 4 times a day with meals perfectly catered to each of our palates - which was not easy as our preferences were varied, including one hard-core Vegan. Everything was super-fresh, beautifully presented, and marvelously delicious. I wish I could have taken her home! Her genuinely happy disposition proved that she was doing what she loved to do - and it couldn’t have been more appreciated by our group.
We have been to the US/BVI several times for bareboat and crewed charters — and cannot recommend this boat or the crew more highly.

Thank you for catering to all of our crazy needs and restrictions. I know it wasn't easy and you had to make multiple plates at each meal and you pulled it off!

The sailing was great. The food was great and my picky eating was accommodated! We were never without a drink in our hands either. the boat was beautiful too.
We cannot wait to do it again!
We enjoyed a mixture of beach bars, snorkeling, fishing, kayaking and paddle boarding, enjoying drinks in the floating seats and some retail therapy in the shops.
We could not recommend this vacation more highly - very relaxing and enjoyable. The crew should be recognized for wonderful service.
The crew was fantastic!They were incredibly aware of all our needs and wants. We had amazing, sophisticated meals and appetizers and great cocktails.
The captain is a very experienced sailor and he knew exactly where to take us depending if we wanted bars/people/movement or just a completely peaceful spot. We got along great and they were very helpful in making this a great trip for us, full of activities (paddle board, kayak, wakeboard etc). Cabins and overall boat were kept very clean all the time.
We definitely feel we got more than our money's worth and would tailor our next sailing trip to match dates with this crew, on any yacht.
First, we want to thank you for waiting on us hand and foot during our vacation. We have never, ever had such an experience. We know that you guys are consummate professionals and it is all in the day's work but we wanted to let you know how special it made us feel, each and every day.
We have had many sailing vacations, and every time we ourselves did the work required: the planning, the navigation, the sailing, the sail handling, water management, shopping, and the list goes on. And this time, you guys did all this and more for us. The atmosphere your provided, the quality of the food, the drinks, the place settings, the itinerary, the anchoring, the cleanliness of the boat; everything was incredible. You guys did it better than we thought it could be done.
So we wanted to let you know all of this and let you know how much we appreciate it and how much we enjoy our memories that week.
We hope you guys have great charters and great guests and a great season, we hope we cross paths with you guys again!
The VI were beautiful and our crew was spectacular! they were so nice and took care of us hand and foot. It was so refreshing to be on vacation and not have to lift a finger if we didn't want to. They were able to recommend the best places to visit and we enjoyed each and every one!
This was, hands down, the best vacation we have been on to date and we would highly recommend it to others!

My wife Judy, Three sons and their wives and myself had a fantastic vacation on our
catamaran cruise aboard Ripple 11-18 January 2025. This was our third catamaran
chartered cruise with Sailing Directions over the past 15 years and was by far the
best trip of all!!
Our Ripple crew of three was attentive, knowledgeable and friendly. Captain Mark
has impressive sailing and diving experience and our party of eight quickly trusted
his leadership. He managed his assistant crew members in exemplary manner with
respect and kindness. He demonstrated total commitment to the safety and comfort
of his guests aboard Ripple. For example, without any prompting or requests from
our party, he quietly traveled by dinghy to shore on two mornings to restock beer
for the ship’s bar without additional charge or negative judgment. The scuba diving
opportunity for two of us who are certified divers was expected but the Discover
Diving course under Mark’s tutelage as a PADI Divemaster for our middle son Joe
was unexpected and gave him a wonderful introduction to scuba during three dives
on this trip. He was thrilled to have this opportunity and experience.
First mate and Chef Michael did a phenomenal job in the galley with sumptuous and
satisfying meals for us and he navigated the vegetarian requirements of two of our
daughter in laws without a glitch. He provisioned the charter perfectly according to
our menu preferences and his own extensive experience. Unplanned highlight
culinary experiences include fresh sashimi from a large king mackerel fresh caught
on an outrigger trawling line and lure as well as fresh baked Sourdough bread
accompanying several meals! Jeanique is a friendly and patient Second Mate and
First Rate Bartender and was extremely attentive to us, never leaving an empty
glass during evening happy hours.
Owner operator Mark Russell maintained an impeccably clean and comfortable yacht
with excellent ventilation with well functioning air conditioning on warm nights and
open hatches and sea breezes in the mornings. Our sailing itinerary was perfect as
we reached from St Thomas and St John USVI, through BVI Norman, Cooper and
Virgin Gorda Islands and out to and back from Anegada then to Jost Van Dyke and
final night on the water off St John. Judy and I agree with our trip highlights being
touring the north shore beaches of Anegada on the Mini Mokes followed by a tasty
lobster dinner and the awesome hike and swim in the Bubbly Pool at Jost.
This family vacation exceeded our expectations and made wonderful lifelong
memories. Even after arriving home the crew of Ripple reached out to us sending
additional photos and trip highlight video. Sailing Directions provided excellent
service and prompt response to any questions we had. Please feel free to use our
