Onboard visit
Genuinely great value, with two fantastic crew and a loyal following — seven past guests rebooked the very next season. Expect a real Greek experience: off-the-beaten-path itineraries, beach BBQs with fresh-caught fish, and dinner under the stars. Easy to recommend.

Description: George Iliopoulos was born in Athens in 1992 and has been the Captain of JEWEL since her very first season in 2023. Having already completed four successful seasons on board, he knows the yacht exceptionally well and brings continuity, confidence, and extensive knowledge of both the vessel and the Greek cruising grounds to every charter.
George studied Computer Science and Business Research at the Athens University of Economics and Business. However, his connection with the sea began at a very young age, travelling with his family throughout the Aegean and Ionian Seas aboard both monohulls and catamarans. He obtained his international sailing license in 2000, and his passion for sailing and exploring the Greek islands has continued to grow ever since.
Over the years, George has sailed extensively throughout Greek waters, both privately and professionally as a skipper. He has visited all the major Greek islands numerous times and has developed an excellent knowledge of local itineraries, secluded bays, points of interest, prevailing weather conditions, and the best destinations to suit each guest’s preferences. This experience allows him to create well-planned yet flexible itineraries and offer guests an authentic experience of Greece.
His sailing experience also extends well beyond Greek waters. George completed an impressive 2,600-nautical-mile voyage from Northern France to Greece aboard a catamaran, crossing the Alboran and Mediterranean Seas. In 2016, he also participated in a charity sailing race in the Aegean, achieving first place. In addition to his sailing qualifications, he holds an international speedboat operator license.
George is known for his excellent communication skills, calm and approachable personality, and natural ability to make guests feel comfortable and secure on board. His particularly warm rapport with children makes him an excellent Captain for family charters, while his professionalism and genuine enthusiasm for sharing the beauty of Greece have consistently earned him excellent feedback from guests.
Safety is always a priority for George. He has completed first-aid training with the Red Cross, providing him with the knowledge and confidence to respond effectively to emergency situations involving both adults and children.
Professional, knowledgeable, and passionate about the sea, George is dedicated to ensuring that every charter aboard JEWEL is safe, seamless, and truly memorable.
