Captain Clayton Corbin

Captain Clayton grew up in a small town in the mid-west United States. Upon graduating High School, he set out on the high seas to travel the world, courtesy of the United States Navy. The sea and all things nautical would direct his path around the world. After a career serving as a Meteorologist and Oceanographer he and his wife decided to continue their travels cruising the world on their sailboat. Having become a sailing instructor in 2002 he continued to hone his skills in the busy sailing community of San Diego Bay Yacht racing and has been an avid sailor and cruiser ever since. Over the years, Captain Clayton has cruised the Caribbean, Mexico and the South Pacific Ocean, becoming an avid free diver and spear fisherman in the process. He and His wife live full time afloat and continuously pursue a life at sea!


Chef Jill M Corbin

Jill grew up along the Lincoln City coast of Oregon where she started cooking at a young age. Jill and Clayton married young and she fell in love with providing her family with healthy home cooked meals. While traveling around the world, Jill has enjoyed taking international cooking classes and learning the subtleties of different cultural cuisine. She enjoys preparing delicious meals and serving people great food. Jill has studied under Chef Briley Corbin, a Culinary Institute of America culinary science major and has had the privilege of working with Chef Richard Torres of Houston, Texas.

Jill learned to sail 22 years ago while living in Yokosuka, Japan. Her love of sailing has never stopped. She has taught kids sailing camp and adult sailing through the US NAVY recreation programs. She was involved in supporting the Navy Yacht Club of San Diego as an active member for racing as well as performing race committee duties and has sailed in some of the most challenging races in Southern California. Clayton and Jill have been full time cruisers since 2016 and crossed the South Pacific Ocean to Australia along with multiple trips around the Caribbean. Jill’s passion for sailing hasn’t changed through the years as they have spent the last few years exploring the Eastern US, Caribbean, and South America. With this opportunity aboard Ithaka, they would like to inspire people to live the dream of sailing, and strengthen others' desire for life on the sea!

Best family vacation ever
Captain Clayton & Chef Jill were fantastic the entire week. We felt extremely safe with our captain running the boat, and both Clayton & Jill spent time with us in the water snorkeling, which was fun and helpful. They know the BVI very well and gave us excellent options throughout our trip and brought us to many great places. They were always available to meet any & all of our needs, yet we were completely able to relax on our own. The guest cabins were quite comfortable. The master suite was great. The bedding was excellent, very clean & comfortable. Ventilation was excellent, the AC was run all night each evening and sleeping conditions were great. Plenty of storage. Chef Jill was fantastic. All our meals were prepared with great care and exquisite tastes! She followed our preferences and checked in with us regularly.

This was our 5th Caribbean charter and we think it was the best one! Thank you for mapping out such a great journey through the islands. We loved the snorkeling, kayaking, and birding. You both made it the perfect holiday! Captain Clayton & Briley were the perfect hosts - you absolutely catered (and anticipated) all our needs. The bays that we moored in were perfect for snorkeling, kayaking, swimming and relaxing (and eating and drinking and singing...) Thank you so much - we felt safe at all times and you showed us all the best parts of these islands. We loved the taco place and enjoyed the "floating band." Briley - food was amazing - and you catered to all our "food whims." That was special. We wish you continued amazing adventures. Only with you would captain (and cook) our next charter!!

And Captain - thank you for sharing your music and adventures with us. And Briley - I SO appreciate the extra efforts to make things diary-free for me- so special! We hope to see you again along the way!

We have enjoyed our first family trip on the boat so much. We are so grateful for how well you have taken care of the boat and treated it like your own. We could not have chosen and more thoughtful crew for Ithaka's maiden year. Everything you have done to get her ready to sail and have guests as been amazing.

My favorite part of the trip is always the planning. Thank you for taking the time to talk out all our plans and timelines. We had such a smooth trip. We will always remember my husband's 46th birthday as the first year we sailed on Ithaka!

Thank you to Briley for all the planning, shopping, prepping and cooking double meals for the kids and adults. Everything was wonderful!

Thank you for a fabulous vacation! This is a trip that our family has talked about for years and now that we have taken the trip, it will be one that we talk about for years to come!

From swimming with sea turtles to snorkeling the Tektite siko, it was all wonderful! Thank you for taking us free diving, Clayton, we loved every minute of it. The kids also loved surfing behind the dinghy and all the time spent out on the water.

Thank you for all of the wonderful food, Briley! Thank you also for the breakfast accommodations for the sleepy teens! Good luck to both of you as you continue your travels.

Five star Captain. Feel very secure the whole trip. There were 4 adolescents that got along with the crew thanks to Clay and Briley. Planning every day activities was real easy with them. Saw some spectacular sandy beaches, amazing sunsets and great spots for snorkeling and swimming. Briley's peanut butter pie was the highlight of he dining experience. God blessed them forever. Highly recommended, the whole group were all so relaxed and felt at ease.
