Name: David Jarrod
Nationality: South Africa
Position:
Position details: Deckhand
Languages: Not specified
Description: “When all the systems are running on board, I can sleep happy,” says Jarrod. As BEYOND CAPRICORN’s deckhand and engineer, it’s his responsibility to ensure the yacht runs smoothly—both on deck and in the engine room. He finds a quiet satisfaction in troubleshooting issues in a high-pressure environment—“it’s one of the best feelings, in a weird way,” he smiles.
Jarrod is South African, where travel is a big part of life. And while Cape Town will always have his heart, he recommends the Mentawai Islands in Indonesia. It’s not one of the better-known yachting destinations, which is what he likes about it. “I always wish guests would explore more, go off the beaten path.”
During your time onboard, he encourages you to let go. “Whatever pressure or stress you have back home, this is the time to escape it all,” he says. “Live in the moment, enjoy the days you have on board, and soak up every moment.”

Position details: Captain
Languages: Not specified
Description: Captain van der Linden had no plans to pursue a career in yachting; he was looking for adventure on the water instead. But after time spent as a seafarer, he worked his way up the career ladder.
And as Captain, Clinton is responsible for the smooth running of BEYOND CAPRICORN. When his crew works cohesively, proactive maintenance keeps everything running smoothly, and exceptional hospitality is delivered, he finds the job incredibly rewarding.
With an interest in personal development, he urges guests to immerse themselves in the local culture while ashore. In Croatia, he recommends “exploring the historic towns and crystal-clear waters, trying the local seafood, and hopping between islands.”
While on board, he suggests his guests “relax and let us take care of everything,” he advises. “And be open to spontaneous adventure—the best memories often come from flexibility.”
Name: Gemma Wright
Nationality: UK
Position:
Position details: Chief Stewarderss
Languages: Not specified
Description: From the frigid heights of the French Alps to the open expanse of the sea wherever BEYOND CAPRICORN takes her, Gemma has built a career on adventure. As Stewardess, she is responsible for the hospitality you’ll experience on board. A great day for her is when she sees that her guests are happy, smiling, and talking about the memories she helped to create during their time on board.
Her favourite place to travel to is the Philippines: island hopping, exploring, and asking locals for their favourite hidden spots. She encourages her guests to “make the most of getting outside or in the water! There’s always something to explore—and definitely find the local gelato store when on shore!”
