More than 12 guests: one yacht or two?

Usually two. Almost every charter yacht is licensed for a maximum of 12 guests, whatever its size, because the rules change above that number. Yachts licensed for more exist but they are few and expensive.

Two yachts cruising together, called a tandem charter, is how most groups of 13 to 24 do it. You share anchorages and evenings and split up during the day. Our large-group guide lists the yachts that can legally take more.
