Crew Information
Captain: Francois Meyer
MEET YOUR CREW:
CAPTAIN: Francois Meyer (previously on Esperanza II)
Chef: Eleanor Thomson (previously on Sweet Ann Marie)
Life for Francois started out on the sunny east coast of South Africa. Living in Richards Bay with the ocean on his doorstep and a fishing rod in his hand, it quickly became a way of life. Soon thereafter his family decided to trade the beach for the "bush" and they moved to a small town in the south-west of Kenya called Magadi where he spent the rest of his childhood growing up in the wilderness.
After school he decided to try his luck as a professional rugby player. Unfortunately an injury ended his short career and it was time to move on. Thankfully the ocean had never stopped calling and soon he was back with a passion that only grew.
He gained his experience as a deckhand on Superyachts in the Mediterranean initially, and then as both a chef and a captain on charter catamarans in the Caribbean and he has completed a couple of Atlantic crossings too.
Francois is extremely excited to get back to the Caribbean to meet new people, hearing their stories and creating lifelong memories for guests.
Eleanor grew up in the small seaside town of Dover in the Southeast of England. She grew up with a great appreciation of the outdoors, nature and adventure. Her mother, born and raised in Africa, and her father, having a military background, she has lived and worked internationally. As such, trotting round the world on her own adventure is something that has come very naturally to her!
At nineteen she left the UK to study Mandarin at Nanjing University in East China, a real-life highlight and a great food tasting opportunity. Since graduating Eleanor has travelled most of Far and South East Asia and has worked in China, organising cultural programmes for westerner students - a very rewarding role. She is passionate about authentic experiences and the best of local food and culture.
During the pandemic, she took a corporate travel job in London. It gave her a detailed understanding of the travel and hospitality industry, however she needed to get back to the frontline. She was keen to do something that combined all that she loves most; cooking, meeting great people, good weather, and an adventure! Since starting her dream job, she has worked as a chef on private charters in Greece and Croatia, and now the U.S. Virgin Islands.
Francois and Eleanor are looking forward to making sure you have a truly unforgettable vacation with them on Neptune's Escape.

Reviews
Eleanor your cooking skills are beyond reproach.
Francois your attention to detail was fantastic as well as your knowledge of the islands.
Both of you made this trip so exciting we want to replicate it again and again!
Please let us know if you ever get to the mainland.

BEST TRIP EVER!
Eleanor, the best cook in the world. You made every meal look effortless and yet was some of the best tasting dishes I've ever had. Seriously I'm going home and learning how to cook.
We had a wonderful week on Neptunes Escape with Francois and Eleanor in the Virgin Islands! Great sailing, adventures and food. The boat was fantastic and the team became part of the family!

We hope to see you again.

The sleek, contemporary trimaran, Neptune’s Escape, matched the crew’s professionalism and taste. We loved the lines, layout, and space!
She was always beautiful to look at from the beach standing out amongst the other vessels.
From the start of the trip we felt a sense of relaxation and were at ease. Crew were flexible and had many ideas for us to enjoy our time in the islands. We always felt safe with Francois, as he kept a close eye on everything, even through the night. He is easy going and prompt to tender to explore islands on the dingy. He went out of his way to catch and release fish which my son and I really enjoyed!
Eleanor had a unique culinary surprise for us each day and would make sure we had everything we wanted. She was always kind to help find something our kids would like, and to try new things! A highlight for us was sitting down three times a day as family for a delicious meal. Eleanor made it easy for us to relax and enjoy each other’s company. She also would help with reservations and planning.
They both make a great team complementing each other’s roles, enjoying what they do. It was great visiting with them in the evening and hanging out with them on the islands. They really made the trip extra special. We look forward to sailing again with Francois and Eleanor in the future. Thank you for the amazing trip, memories, and hospitality!

A huge thanks to our captain Francois, whose expertise and knowledge of the islands made every moment seamless and exciting. He navigated us to the most stunning spots, each more breathtaking than the last. Another big thank you to Eleanor for your warmth, kindness, and constant dedication to ensuring we had everything we needed.
One of the highlights of the trip was the amazing meals Eleanor prepared for us three times a day. Those times together as a family were truly special - sharing delicious food while surrounded by the beauty of the islands. We created memories we will always treasure.
The memories we made this week - sailing the clear blue waters, exploring different islands, visiting hidden coves, and enjoying the culture of the BVI - wills tay with us for a lifetime.
Thank you again for an exceptional journey. We hope to sail with you again some day!

Every aspect of the trip was perfect - from the decisions and healthy meals to the fine captaining, to the night at Foxy's for New Year- thank you for it all and forever being a part of the best memories of our lives.
We wish you good health, prosperity and everything you both dream of.
Thank you

You both made it so incredibly special for us. From the moment we stepped on the boat y'all spoiled us rotten! From planning the perfect excursions, to 5 star meals, each and everyone tasted so delicious!
The boat was always kept so clean and organized.
There is something magical about going to sleep and waking up on a boat.
We cant thank y'all enough and if you are ever in Houston don't hesitate to reach out to us so we can spoil y'all back!
We hope to get to do this again and we definitely will request that you guys are our crew!!
Thank you for introducing us to "Uncle" Willie T - lots of memories there :)
We enjoyed having you become part of our family this week and hope that our paths cross again in the future. Until then God Speed....Dream Big!
It couldn't have been the same without you guys! it was like a dream.
I wish you both the best! Let me know if you make it to the mountains.
Adrian is like one of our best mates - but you can tell that at all times, even when we are laughing and joking - he never let's his guard down on safety.
Emma is a wonderful ray of sunshine, so funny and a blast to be around. Her cooking is 11/10. I was honestly shocked by not only the quality, but also the display of the food she cooked for us. Despite dealing with various dietary restrictions, she continuously prepared fresh and healthy meals.
Adrian and Emma gave us tons of good tips on what to do and see at all the different stops. I had a birthday during this week and they made that so special too.
They literally made our week and can't imagine booking a trip like this again without them.
From the first breakfast we were blown away by Emma's skills in the kitchen. The most beautiful dishes, cooked to perfection. Every single day!
We didn't have to worry about anything. They made sure we were always taken care of and comfortable.
We feel beyond fortunate to have had them as our crew.
Emma was the best chef we could have asked for. Her food was incredible and she was so good at incorporating food for all the different allergies.
Our week would not have been the same without them. They felt like they were part of our friend group. All future guests are lucky to be able to set sail with these two.
Capt Adrian is incredibly skilled, genuine and engaging. We enjoyed his wit and appreciated his lively entertainment of the kids.
Emma was AMAZING! It there was a higher score than a 10/10, I would give it to her.
She is an amazing chef and truly went above and beyond with our our meals. Her food was better than the food I got on the islands! Her personality was spot on and she made us feel right at home from the second we stepped onboard. We truly lucked out with the best Chef in the biz.
Amazing crew! The quality of their service was top notch.
Mediterranean spread, coconut curry Mahi Mahi, pancakes, eggs any style, papaya boat, build-your-own-bagel. The list goes on and on.
Emma's food, Captain Adrian's cocktail hour, Foxy's at night, Soggy's during the day, the Baths (wear shoes), snorkelling at the Indians, drink many painkillers, take boat naps and wear lots of sunscreen :))
The BEST trip ever! Highly recommended
